My Braces are on, Now what?

Give Yourself Time

Your braces can take a little time getting used to. Be patient. Give yourself time to adjust. Things that help:

  • Eating soft foods
  • Cold foods provide extra relief too
  • Take pain relief such as paracetamol or ibuprofen
  • Protruded Teeth
  • Bite Correction

When Will We See you Again?
We will most likely want to see you in 12 weeks. As your smile progresses we may need to see you more frequently, allowing your orthodontist to make the necessary adjustments that will put the finishing touches on, as you move towards your Beautiful Confident Smile.
How To Care For Your Braces
Our friendly team will take you through how to care for your teeth now that you are wearing braces. We ask that during your treatment you:

  • Take care while eating
  • Avoid hard, sticky, crunchy foods
  • Keep sugary foods and drinks to a minimum
  • Brush your teeth 3 times per day
  • Floss 2-3 times each week. Not sure how? Ask our team at your visit and we will happily show you!

Having Trouble?

Something not quite right?
This is normal and we are here to help!

Food caught between teeth…
not an emergency, but uncomfortable and a little annoying! Flossing will help dislodge any food caught between teeth. If the space is a little bigger than normal, try tying a knot in the floss for extra help.
Loose Brackets,
Wires or Gates… call us as soon as you notice. We will determine for you the best way forward. Remember, if part of your braces is not attached, it is not working for you and may add additional time to your treatment.
